Dazzled by great customer service!

I occasionally write about customer service experiences–some good and some not so good.  Today, I’m happy to write about a very pleasant experience with Ashley Furniture HomeStore in Matthews.

My 81-year old mother needed a new chair for her nursing home room.  She has a hard time getting around, and walking any distance at all is virtually impossible.  Yet, she still is somewhat opinionated and particular about her surroundings.  I knew she’d want to pick out her chair.  So, I went on the Internet and scoped out what I thought would be a good fit for her small frame.  I found that chair at Ashley Furniture.

I called the store one morning, and Burton Oxford, Assistant General Manager, answered.  I told him I had a few odd requests and hoped that he could help me.  I needed him to measure specific areas of the chair in question so that I could verify the fit before bringing Mom out.  He gladly measured the chair and called me back.  I then asked if he would be willing to move the chair to the front of the store so that Mom wouldn’t have to walk very far to try it out.  He readily agreed, saying it would be no trouble at all.

When we arrived, Burton was waiting for us at the door.  He helped me get my Mom into the store, and into the chair that was waiting just steps away.  He was attentive throughout the process, helped me get Mom back into the car, and streamlined the paperwork so that she wouldn’t have to wait for me.

I want to say thanks for Burton for his help.  I’m always thrilled to see stores and employees who are willing and happy to take the extra steps to make the buying experience more positive.  I’ll shop Ashley again!
